Nominating Schools

Eligible nominating high schools may nominate 1-2 students based on the size of the senior class, as shown below: 

Up to 299 seniors = 1 nominee
300+ seniors = 2 nominees

APPLYING DIRECTLY FOR THE ROAN

Any high school senior living anywhere in TN - or the surrounding states of GA, KY, NC, SC, and VA - may apply directly for the Roan, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Beyond an initial file review for applicants, there is no distinction between direct applicants and nominees during the rest of the selection process. Since the program expanded to include direct applicants, each Roan class selected has included both applicants and nominees.


WHO CAN NOMINATE STUDENTS FOR THE ROAN?

All high schools in the counties listed below are also eligible to nominate a student for the Roan. If your school has not nominated a student before, or if you have any questions about the nomination process, please feel free to contact us.

Northeast TN Counties: Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Jefferson, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, Washington

Southwest VA Counties: Grayson, Lee, Scott, Washington

Western NC Counties: Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga, Yancey
