Dr. Michelle Byrd

Professional Highlights: Has served at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) since 2004, holding a variety of roles in both student and academic affairs - most recently as Senior Associate Vice President and Dean of Students. In this current role she oversees the institution’s disciplinary and care processes, the Division’s emergency response protocol, student wellness initiatives, and the Counseling Center and Disability Services units. Additionally, she is the advisor to the Student Government Association and teaches as an adjunct in the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English at Milligan University, and holds a M.A. in English, a M.A. in Teaching, and an Ed.D. from ETSU.

Personal Interests: Reading, History, Travel, Art, Renovation Projects.

International Travel Experience: England, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

Noteworthy Travel Experiences within the U.S.: Familiar with the Phoenix / Scottsdale; Monterey / Salinas; and Reno / Tahoe areas.
