The nomination process for the Roan Class of 2022 is open, with an October 11, 2017 deadline.
High School students should contact their guidance counselor to express interest in being nominated to compete for the Roan. Counselors and other school officials: please contact the Roan office with any questions.
NEW this year: Homeschool students interested in applying for the Roan should contact the Roan office to begin the process.
Graduating seniors attending high school in select counties in northeast TN, southwest VA, and western NC, are eligible to be nominated.
Who Can Be a Roan Scholar?
A leader of outstanding character. Someone who will leave big shoes to fill after graduation. Someone respected and admired by those around them; who’s made a significant positive impact on their school and the community.”
What’s the Process?
Future Roan Scholars are nominated by their high school during the fall of their senior year, and selected after a file review and highly competitive series of interviews.
What’s the Timeline?
The nomination window opens each year in early August, with a deadline in October. Nominees participate in regional interviews during November; select students are invited to campus for Finalist Day in January.
